21st October 2024
The EOC Recognition Event took place on Friday 18th October. This event was an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge all the hard work that our EOC colleagues have done over the past year.
Two sessions were facilitated, to allow as many staff as possible to attend, and both sessions were attended by senior management who wanted to show their appreciation towards the staff who work tirelessly at ensuring we deliver the best patient care possible.
Our Priority Dispatch Corporation representative, Jonny McMullan, attended and spoke to staff about how their diligent adherence to protocol, when processing 999 calls, was a credit to NIAS and gave an overview of how well the staff had done at maintaining compliance targets since being awarded ACE accreditation last year.
Time was taken to review any compliments that had been sent in over the past year, from service users, members of the public and colleagues. Multiple awards were presented to EMD’s who had demonstrated a successful delivery of a baby over the telephone, as well to those who had saved a life by successfully guiding someone through CPR instructions.
Thank you to all who attended and those who worked hard to arrange this wonderful event. Congratulations to all of EOC for their hard work and achievements this year. We look forward to celebrating many more successes in the near future.
New awards were also given out at this year’s EOC Recognition Event for RPCC call-taker of the year, EMD of the year and Control Officer of the year.
Our Control Officer of the Year 2024 Winner is Natalie Adgey!
“Natalie has been a valued member of the EOC team for 6 years, first starting in the role of EMD where she mentored many of her colleagues before moving on to control officer. Within both roles Natalie has demonstrated strong leadership skills. She is extremely knowledgeable, approachable and is always attentive to what is going on around her who may need support. Congratulations Natalie!”
Our EMD of the Year 2024 is Brian Kerry!
“Brian was voted EMD of the Year for a number of reasons. Since starting his career as an EMD Brian has worked hard to improve in all aspects of call-taking. He is always willing to listen to feedback and apply the learning to future calls. Brian consistently attends work with a positive (and at times jovial) attitude, and without a doubt lightens the stressful environment around him; whilst also remaining focused and in control of his calls. Congratulations Brian!”
Our RPCC Call taker of the Year 2024 is Anne Corcoran!
“Anne is one of our longest standing staff members within EOC and was voted RPCC Call Taker of the year for many reasons. Anne is the very definition of a team player. Nicknamed ‘Granny Annie’, Anne looks after everyone within EOC, be that through listening to anyone’s problems and giving advice, guiding new members of staff with her wealth of experience in the service, or feeding the entire staff group within EOC – most people have probably had to go up a uniform size because of this! Anne is passionate about her job, her callers and the patient’s who she organises ambulances for. In short, Anne really cares deeply and puts everyone else first in everything she does.
You always know when you report for shift, that when you see Anne sitting at her desk, it is going to be a good day. Congratulations Anne!”
