NIAS celebrates International Control Room Week

25th October 2024

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service have taken the opportunity to celebrate the work of our colleagues in both EOC and NEAOC during International Control Room Week. Both centres planned a week of various activities for the staff to recognise the hard work they deliver consistently all year, including Breakfast mornings, competitions, mindfulness sessions and a Therapy dog! We hope that all our staff have had the opportunity to take a little time out to enjoy International Control Room Week and the various activities provided in both sites.

Our control rooms have developed significantly over the last few years and in EOC alongside our Emergency Medical Despatchers and Control Officers, we now have an Integrated Clinical Hub team.  Together they ensure coordinated responses while reassuring callers, providing clinical guidance and managing resources to save lives.

Our teams in EOC and NEAOC work tirelessly behind the scenes ensuring the public get the best care and response possible. Your dedication, care and hard work does not go unnoticed – Thank you!

The Leadership team in NEAOC have organised a range of activities during the week to mark the Control Room Week and today the colleague of the year was awarded to Rachel McKeegan having been voted by her colleagues.

We also want to thank NHS Charities who provided us with a much-needed budget to extend an outdoor patio area, install an all-weather sail to our outdoor seating alongside some beautiful planters in Headquarters.  This would not have happened without the help of the Ann Marie McStocker and the NIAS Health and Wellbeing team, so we are very grateful for your support!
