Road Safety Week 2024

20th November 2024

Road Safety Week is an annual event to raise awareness about the importance of road safety and encourage responsible behaviour among road users.

The Northern Ireland Department for Infrastructure has emphasised the importance of of this campaign through initiatives like “Share the Road to Zero”, which encourages safe driving and reducing the amount of casualties we see on the road. One person loses their life on our roads on average every week and 57 have died so far this year. More than 4,000 people were killed or seriously injured in the north from 2019 to 2023.
John Amos, Divisional Training Officer, speaks about the impact of the scenes that the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service crews attend on a regular basis. As we come into the winter months, it is essential that we all need to take extra caution when driving as even the weather can cause hazardous conditions, such as black ice and snow.
How you can Share the Road to Zero:
1.    Watch your speed.
2.    Wear your seatbelts.
