Staff Pay and Grading Structures

General Information about Pay in the HPSS

The NHS Agenda for Change Pay System applies to all jobs within the HPSS with the exception of Doctors, Dentists and the most Senior Managers. The NHS Job Evaluation System is used to determine basic salary by applying one of nine pay bands to each job. The pay bands are based on a sliding scale, and staff will normally progress through the pay scale their job attracts until they reach the top of the pay band.

Ambulance Pay

There are a wide variety of jobs within NIAS such as Ambulance Emergency and Non-Emergency Services, Ambulance Control, and support roles such as Finance, I.T., Human Resources and Training. Staff who are required to work in unsocial hours receive enhanced payments of up to 25% of their basic salary, which reflects the 24 hour nature of the service.
