Andrea Gibbs shares why she nominated David Pentland for Derry Journal People of the Year Award: “I nominated David for Derry Journal People of the Year Awards under the Carer of the Year and I felt he was perfect for this category. I am delighted to say that he got runner up and highly commended. This is a massive achievement in itself as it was a huge category.
He has been in Altnagelvin for 20 years as an ACA. He has been part of a group who has organised a charity called Time for Ewe who he set up with other family members to help families bereaved from losing a child. He also helps with the local football teams in the city from coaching to now been the treasurer of Churchill football club here in Londonderry.
He is also a valued member of staff here in Altnagelvin who during the pandemic made sure all the staff were fed and looked after and he is respected by all his peers and colleagues.
He is a genuine, lovely gentleman who would do anything for anyone.”
