Who We Are and What We Do

How we fit into the Health and Social Care Structure

Details of how we fit into the wider HSC structure can be found here.

This includes information relating to key organisations with which we work in partnership.

Organisational Structure

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) is structured into 4 Directorates under the Chief Executive as follows:

Operations (Including Performance, Communications, Fleet and Estate Management)
Medical (Including Clinical Governance and Risk Management)
Finance (Including Information Technology)
Human Resources (Including Regional Ambulance Training Centre, Administration)

Each Directorate is managed by a Director and a team of Managers along with operational and support staff.

Our Accident and Emergency service is divided into five operational areas referred to as East City Division, East Country Division, Northern Division, Southern Division and Western Division. Each Division is managed by a Ambulance Service Area Manager who is supported by Station Officers and Clinical Supervisors on a day to day basis.

A more detailed description of our structure, with our grading structure can be found in NIAS Organisational Structure (Currently being updated)
