10th October 2023
Today, Tuesday 10 October, sees the end of our campaign Creating Hope, Through Action along with the other Health and Social Care Trusts and PHA to develop a campaign to encourage
people across Northern Ireland to embrace and demonstrate the theme. The campaign ran from 11th September – 10th October 2023 to mark the period between World Suicide Prevention Day and World Mental Health Day. This year we are calling on people to ‘Walk & Talk’. Embracing the Take 5 messages to ‘Be Active’ and ‘Connect’.
On Saturday 7th October, a NIAS walk and talk event took place at Titanic Quarter as part of this year’s mental health campaign. The group were lead by the expertise of Sights and Sounds of the Maritime Mile guide Lorraine Welsh. The NIAS walking club now already has over 130 members and this event will be the first of many. Well done to our colleagues in EAC, Olivia Espie, Sophie Gill and Katie Fry, who completed Walk Leader Training and led the NIAS Walk and Talk event as part of the campaign. Thank you to everyone who joined our campaign event and took part.
As part of our ongoing Mental Health action plan, we recently ran water-based wellbeing taster events at Strangford Lough and Portrush. The feedback was positive from colleagues who enjoyed the time spent in the water and got benefit from the peer support led ‘20-minute care space’ session. Thank you to all who have taken part.
